At the division of the diocese of Gaborone, some money was also given to Francistown for its use. With this money, the Bishop thought it was better to invest in some projects that would help to support the church in the long run and not just use the money now and be left in a few years with nothing. The Church Farm project was started as a means of self-supporting. In the beginning lots of investments had to be made on the farm to build the houses for the staff, to repair the fence and to bring water to the farm. Cattle were donated by well meaning people (Catholics and non Catholics) as a sign of support for the church activities and programs.
